Popeyes Has a New Rare Item on the Menu

While Popeyes only has two permanent dessert options—the Cinnamon Apple Pie and the Chocolate Chip Cookie—the fast-food chain often delights us with temporary sweet additions to its menu.

And its latest such innovation is a fun riff on a Louisiana favorite: the beignet. Popeyes is currently rolling out Wild Berry Beignets

Made with deep-fried pastry dough and filled with a sweet wild berry sauce. And it wouldn't be a beignet if it weren't covered in copious amounts of powdered sugar.

The new desserts are currently being tested at select locations across New York, Illinois, and California. Customers can purchase three, six

And 12-piece orders at a suggested price of $1.99, $3.99, and $7.49, respectively (prices may vary). It's unclear how long the fruity beignets will be available.

The release of the Wild Berry Beignets is just one of many moves Popeyes has made in the fried desserts category, with the item being the chain's second beignet iteration.

After holding a test run in October of 2020 at certain Massachusetts and Maryland locations, Popeyes launched Hershey's chocolate-filled beignets nationwide in December of 2020—but only  limited time.

Other temporary dessert offerings include the chain's September 2021 release of its Blackberry Cheesecake Fried Pie, which followed the addition of several other turnover

Beyond its ever-changing roster of fried desserts, Popeyes has also introduced other sweet treats like its Strawberry Cheesecake Cup and Bourbon Fudge Pie.

The Wild Berry Beignet's debut comes shortly after Popeyes' nationwide relaunch of its popular Flounder Fish Sandwich. Made for the Lenten season
